Mental coding aka mental conditioning is a form of conditioning your mind. It allows you to program your brain and your mind in the same way as if you were programming a computer. It is a skill that can be taught but requires practice and can help you overcome bad habits both in life and in the field of sports. Mental programming is a term that I use to allow one to understand the process better. It is a simple analogy that covers the essence of this skill.

Working on your mentality can help one reduce stress, increase the capacity of their memory, rate of thinking and analysing various situations or code certain behaviours in an if-else manner into their subconscious mind so they automatically manifest themselves when desired (if programmed correctly). The mentality of a person is one of the most important factors to include when designing a strategy. It is so because of the fact that everyone might react differently to a certain approach therefore it is generally recommended that the approach is to be individualised and matched to the person (not vice versa).

There are many ways of working on your mind. One of them is imagining that your brain is a computer and what happens within it, is the work of an operating system. Such an approach enables you to “install” thoughtforms, habits etc., and treat them as applications. Depending on how you structure their content, it will aid you when you need it or prevent you from achieving desired goals.

Some say that it’s very complicated and some that it’s very simple but you have to be precise. Again, it all depends on the approach and the mindset itself. There are people who have developed an analytic mindset and there are people that have developed an artistic mindset. There are also ones who are able to work in both ways. Depending on which one is of your preference, you might find the task of programming your head easier or harder. It is all very individual and requires a tailored approach as everyone might react differently to each technique.
It cannot be foretold how will you react to the mind-coding techniques but it can be tested. For some, these techniques will be effective and for others, they won’t. Despite all that vague information, one is certain. If you are already getting a hint of how it might work, you will probably find it natural to work with your mind in such a way. However, if you don’t – don’t worry. There are numerous approaches to work with your psyche, you just have to find the right one.
