Moving beyond passive angelic meditation is the first step toward operative practice. This article is for those who aspire to become an angelic healer and wish to learn the foundational techniques. This is where you move from just receiving to actively partnering with angelic intelligences to facilitate healing, protection, and guidance.
Moving From Passive to Operative Practice
When you move from self-healing meditation to operative practice, your intent shifts. You are no longer just a receiver; you are becoming a conscious, active facilitator and angelic work adept. This requires a different skillset, one built on a foundation of respect, clarity, and skill.
As a Chaos Magick practitioner and energy healer, I view these as systems of technique. What matters is the clarity of your connection and the skill of your focus.
Preparations for the Angelic Work
Before you can effectively work on others, your own space and energy must be impeccable. Prepare it, cleanse it, secure it.
Preparing Your Sacred Space
This is not about complex rituals, but focus. Before a session, set a clear intention. This can be as simple as lighting a candle, burning incense (like frankincense), or simply stating aloud: “I open this space in the highest vibration of light, for the highest good. Only that which is divine is welcome here.” This must be done with pure confidence and inner strength; you may push your chest out and bring your palms together to form the Amen gesture when stating this intent.
Banishing: Energetic Hygiene and Protection
Magic protection is necessary to center yourself, banish any negative energies or entities, and ensure your sacred space will not be disrupted by unwanted influences. To protect yourself, you may perform the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram.
The LBRP consists of a few parts: the opening, the formulation of the pentagrams, the summoning of the archangels, and the closing. There are several variations of it widely available. You may use your hand, an athame, or a magic wand during the ritual. You are allowed to modify the ritual to fit your needs and preferences. Here are the step-by-step instructions:
The Opening Qabalistic Cross:
- Face East. Visualize yourself as a large figure, with the Earth as a small sphere beneath your feet. See a brilliant, white light (a sphere) forming high above your head.
- Reach up into this light with your right hand (or a wand or an athame). Bring the light down to your forehead. Vibrate (speak loudly in a resonant tone): Ateh (ah-TEH). (Thou art…)
- Bring your hand down to your solar plexus, then stomach, and finally hips. Feel the light descending in a beam to your groin and feet. Vibrate: Malkuth (mahl-KOOTH). (…the Kingdom…)
- Bring your hand to your right shoulder, visualizing the beam of light traveling from your center to the shoulder. Vibrate: Ve-Geburah (veh-geh-boo-RAH). (…the Power…)
- Bring your hand to your left shoulder, seeing the beam cross your chest to it. Vibrate: Ve-Gedulah (veh-geh-doo-LAH). (…the Glory…)
- Clasp your hands together at your chest, as if in prayer. Vibrate: Le-Olam, Amen (leh-oh-LAHM, ah-MEN). (…forever, Amen.)
The Formulation of the Pentagrams:
- Move to the East. Trace a large Banishing Pentagram in the air before you with your right hand (or athame/wand). Visualize it glowing in white or electric blue light.
- Thrust your hand/athame/wand into the center of the pentagram. Vibrate the Divine Name: YHVH (Yod-Heh-Vav-Heh).
- Without dropping your hand, turn 90 degrees to the South. Trace the same Pentagram.
- Thrust into its center. Vibrate: ADNI (Ah-doh-NAI).
- Turn 90 degrees to the West. Trace the Pentagram.
- Thrust into its center. Vibrate: AHIH (Eh-heh-YEH).
- Turn 90 degrees to the North. Trace the Pentagram.
- Thrust into its center. Vibrate: AGLA (Ah-glah; abbreviation for Ateh Gibor Le-Olam Adonai).
- Turn 90 degrees back to the East to complete your circle, keeping your arm outstretched. You should now be standing in the center of a circle of four glowing white or blue pentagrams.
The Summoning of the Archangels:
- Stand in the center of your circle, facing East, with your arms outstretched in the form of a cross.
- Say: “Before me, Raphael.” (Visualize a tall, angelic figure and feel the power of the Air element blowing through you).
- Say: “Behind me, Gabriel.” (Visualize him surrounded by the Water element and feel it flowing through you).
- Say: “At my right hand, Michael.” (Visualize him surrounded by the Fire element and feel its heat inside you).
- Say: “At my left hand, Uriel.” (Visualize a figure in earthy tones, standing on fertile ground, surrounded by the Earth element, then visceralize yourself strongly connected to the center of Earth).
- Say: “For around me flames the Pentagram (and visualize it), and within me shines the six-rayed star (then visualize the Hexagram).”
The Closing Qabalistic Cross
Repeat the Qabalistic Cross facing East, exactly as you did at the beginning, to seal the ritual.
Basic Healing Techniques for Beginners
Once you are protected, you can begin to facilitate healing for others. Here is a list of practical techniques and use cases.
Hands-On Healing: Channeling the Angelic Light
This is the most direct technique. After summoning your angelic team (Raphael for healing, Michael for clearing, etc.), you place your hands on or just above the client’s body.
- This is not Reiki: You are not channeling impersonal Ki. You are a facilitator for the conscious, intelligent light of the angels. You will feel the difference. It is often described as “cooler” or “tingling.”
- Trust Your Intuition: The angels will guide your hands to the areas that need work.
Remote Healing: Using an Energetic Link
Just like Reiki or shamanic healing, angelic work is not bound by space. To work remotely:
- Establish an energetic link (a photo, a name, or simply the client on the phone).
- Summon the angel/s (e.g., Archangel Raphael) and humbly ask them to go to your client for healing.
- You can act as a proxy, visualizing the client in front of you and performing the healing, or you can simply send the angelic team to them while you hold a state of prayerful, focused meditation.
Psychic Surgery: Cord-Cutting with Archangel Michael
This is a core skill for any angelic healer. Clients often suffer from draining etheric cords.
- Perform your banishing ritual on both yourself and the client.
- Summon Archangel Michael and humbly ask him to use his sword of light.
- Scan the client’s aura with your hands or your inner sight (using your third eye).
- When you find a cord, ask Michael to cut it. You may make a cutting motion with your hand, feeling him do the work.
- After cutting, immediately summon Archangel Raphael to fill the wound/hole with his emerald-green healing light so the cord cannot re-form.
Two Ways of Summoning: Invocation vs. Evocation
These are the two primary mechanisms for working with angels. As a beginner, you will typically start with the invocation, as it’s easier for most people.
| Technique | Invocation (Calling In) | Evocation (Calling Forth) |
|---|---|---|
| Concept | You draw the angel’s consciousness into yourself. You merge. | You call the angel’s consciousness to manifest externally to you. |
| Feel | “I am one with Raphael.” You feel his compassion as your own. | “Raphael is in the room with me.” You feel his presence as a separate being. |
| Difficulty | Easier. It is a natural extension of meditation and channeling. | Harder. It requires intense devoted concentration and willpower. |
| Use Cases | Hands-on healing, divination, and merging. | For external manifestation or direct conversation. |
When invocation is used, you feel the angelic energy and presence within yourself, flowing through you, helping you with the healing or doing it through your hands. This is an act of merging your consciousness with the invoked entity.
When evocation is used, you feel the angelic presence around you, in the room, but not within yourself. This is an act of externalization or summoning the entity as a separate, conscious being.
Invocation is typically easier, while evocation is typically more demanding. Advanced adepts sometimes combine both techniques during a single magical act. Each technique has its own advantages: invocation allows you to feel and understand the summoned entity better, while evocation allows you to give the entity a specific task and delegate it to complete it on its own.
Applications Beyond Healing
Once you have a stable connection, you can do more than just hands-on healing.
Enchantment: Humbly Asking for Noble Goals
Enchantment is the act of creating change, or magic. With angels, this is a co-operative act. When doing so, you humbly ask, rather than command. While angels can be petitioned for many goals, an angelic healer focuses on noble goals, e.g.:
- You may invoke Raphael and bless a quartz crystal using his power, charging it with healing energy for your client to carry, thus creating an enchanted protective amulet that heals any energetic wounds.
- You may evoke Michael and ask him to fend off any negative spirits or energies from your client’s home and create a protective magical barrier so the place remains spiritually secure, thus enchanting a specific place.
Divination: Seeking Angelic Guidance
Divination is the operative practice of gathering information that is not normally accessible. When partnering with angels, you can use your connection to gain a higher perspective on a situation, receive clear answers, or get spiritual guidance.
- Invoke your chosen angelic guide for this purpose (e.g., Archangel Gabriel for clear communication or Archangel Zadkiel for clarity on karmic patterns).
- Enter the merged or invoked state, ensuring your ego is set aside.
- From this clear, connected state, use your divination tool:
- Automatic Writing: Hold a pen to paper and let the angel guide your hand, allowing words to flow without conscious thought.
- Scrying: Gaze into a crystal ball, black mirror, or bowl of water, asking for a vision or symbol to answer your query.
- Tarot/Oracle: Pull cards, and you will find the angelic perspective on the reading is incredibly clear, compassionate, and focused on the highest good.
For the very same purpose, you may also evoke the chosen angelic being/s to ask it/them direct questions, but this practice is much more demanding and requires a significant skill—especially when summoning multiple entities. The questions are typically answered via channeling.
Illumination: Spiritual Growth With the Angels’ Help
Illumination is an advanced practice of spiritual self-development. This is more than a mere conversation with angels (a divinatory session). This is the process of consciously working on yourself—with angelic assistance—to integrate spiritual wisdom and bring a constructive change to your soul.
While divination asks a question, illumination seeks to transform the questioner.
This involves invoking an archangel to help you understand and transmute a personal flaw, a limiting belief, or a karmic pattern. For example, instead of asking, “Will I be stuck in this pattern?” you would invoke an angel (like Archangel Uriel for wisdom or Archangel Zadkiel for transmutation) and ask, “Help me understand the root of this pattern, integrate its lesson, and illuminate the part of me that is ready to evolve beyond it.” This is an active collaboration for spiritual growth.
A Note on Skill vs. Systems
Many practitioners will tell you that you must learn a complex, formal system like Kabbalah or Enochian Magick to do “real” angelic work. This is not true.
As a Chaos Magick adept, I view these systems as just a map. The true key is your personal devoted concentration and willpower. These skills can bypass formal systems. I have, for example, successfully summoned the planetary intelligence Ophiel—an angelic being of Mercury—using only my trained occult skills of focus and will, without any formal angelic training. This proves that your skill, your intent, and the clarity of your connection are what matter, not the dogma.
Advanced Practice: Permanent Invocation
This is a long-term practice for the truly devoted adept that focuses on permanently aligning your energy with the angel’s frequency.
Long-Term Invocation: Soaking the Soul
This involves performing a daily or weekly invocation of a specific angel (e.g., Archangel Michael) but without a formal banishing or devocation. The goal is to constantly be in a state of unity, allowing your soul to soak or suck in the angel’s energy over weeks or months. This allows you to align your entire being with that angel’s frequency.
Psychological Viewpoint: Integrating the Archetype
From a pragmatic, psychological perspective, this soaking is the active, conscious work of integrating a constructive archetype into your personality. By merging with Michael, you are not just borrowing his courage; you are becoming courageous. By merging with Raphael, you are not just channeling compassion; you are becoming compassion. This permanent change in your own consciousness is what makes you a truly powerful and authentic angelic healer.
